Peter Gammons of ESPN reports that the Red Sox have agreed to terms with first baseman Sean Casey on a one-year, $700,000 contract.
Casey must not have had many offers, because he has zero chance of getting significant playing time unless David Ortiz, Kevin Youkilis or Mike Lowell suffers a major injury. He'll serve as Boston's backup at first base and designated hitter, and give them a high-average bat off the bench.

Ensberg is one of the top-30 third basemen in baseball, but no one wanted him as a regular there. He may face an uphill battle just to make the Yankees as a reserve. He has a career 937 OPS against southpaws, so he'd be useful as a part-timer at first base. Still, Shelley Duncan is also qualified to start there against lefties. There shouldn't be room for both.

McPherson was non-tendered by the Angels after missing all of last season following back surgery, but is still just 27 years old and is certainly worth taking a flier on as a potential replacement for Miguel Cabrera. He'll compete with Jose Castillo and Jorge Cantu for playing time at third base and has the power potential to emerge with fantasy value at some point. Even though McPherson in a left-handed hitter, we imagine this takes Florida back out of the mix for Wes Helms.

The newspaper speculates that Crede "will be gone by the middle of Cactus League play" if he shows that he's healthy. Whether San Francisco is the destination or not, it seems fairly obvious that Crede won't begin the season in Chicago.

Between the option and incentives, the deal could be worth as much as $15 million, which is amazing given that Feliz had to settle for a one-year contract last offseason. The Phillies apparently like his tremendous glove and 25-homer pop enough to live with horrendous on-base percentages. He's likely to hit seventh in the batting order, behind Geoff Jenkins, and should have plenty of RBI chances. With Feliz now the clear starter at third base, the Phillies figure to shop Wes Helms.

Walker fared remarkably well in limited action after returning from Tommy John surgery last season, but hasn't been healthy since 2005 and has a 4.51 career ERA in 175 2/3 innings spread over five seasons. Brian Wilson is set to act as the Giants' closer.
